TDI Jeju 2025 Summer Camp

TDI, partnering with New Era Academy, SNT. EDU, Asia Debating, A+ Intensive Debate Academy, and Intertext Education is again hosting a six-day (five-night) debate camp on the beautiful island of Jeju! All debaters will dorm together, attend field trips together and learn debate together in this international camp for a full summer experience.

 

On the two days, they will all compete in the Harvard Korea Nationals! This will be the best way for students to gain a love for debate and debate tournaments. 6 days of intensive learning and fun for all students.

 

This camp is open to students ages 10 - 18. It doesn’t matter if you have no experience debating or if you have years of experience. This camp has lessons and different skill brackets for all levels of debaters.

Harvard Korea Nationals 2025 Format

Harvard Korea Nationals will be a premier AP debate tournament, officially sponsored by Harvard Debate Union. This two day tournament runs right after TDI Jeju Summer. However, debaters are welcome to only apply for the tournament.

Junior CategoryAll debaters 13-years-old and younger will compete in the Junior category.

The Junior category will have 30 minutes of prep time and 4 minute constructive speeches


Open Category: All debaters 14-years-old and older will compete in the Open category.

The Open category will have 30 minutes of prep time and 7 minutes of speech time.

Motions: All rounds in the tournament are impromptu rounds; there will be five rounds before the break. Debate teams will be assigned random sides every round.

Format: Harvard Korea Invitational will follow Asian Parliamentary debate rules. The junior category will have shorter speech times to accommodate younger debaters.

EligibilityOnly debaters that have not graduated high school are eligible to join the tournament. All participating debaters must be in teams of three for the tournament. Iron man teams are not allowed to participate.

Harvard Korea Nationals is open to all debaters within the age range.

Accomodation

Students either stay in the Jeju National University dormitory or in the nearby Nanta Hotel. Specific roommates can be requested if debaters have friends attending the camp. 

Field Trip

As a wonderful way to unwind, all debaters will have fun adventures go carting. There are other amazing attraction that we will visit around Jeju as well.

Meals

Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner is on us! All debaters have to eat delicious and hearty Korean meals if they want to debate intensely! 

Meals will be a combination of dorm meals and restaurant trips. All meals are chosen to be healthy and aware of allergies and preferences. Also, students will be able to eat as much as necessary!

All meals will be provided, but if students want some fun snacks, they can purchase them at a nearby cornerstore.
